The Poetry Circle

We enjoy discussing our own poetry, and also touch on the work of established poets.

We make constructive suggestions and exchange ideas. A hot topic of the moment: the relative merits of free verse and rhyming poetry.

We each bring five or six copies of a poem, and then discuss it for ten minutes.  Some of us are beginners, some enter competitions, and one or two of us win occasionally.

The Literature Group also runs its own poetry competition each spring with prizes of £500.

When and where to find us

We meet during term-time, at 7.30 on the third Tuesday of the month at the University of Northampton, Park Campus, Boughton Green Road.  Click on the road and campus maps in the left-hand column for precise details.

If you live in the region, join us; we will make you feel welcome.

For more information phone Julia Tonkinson on 01604 720568, or click here to email her.
