Poetry
Workshop
The
Path Back...
This is a chance to recover past experience!
Childhood holds many key memories which are really moments of intense
realisation. The workshop offers opportunities to explore ways of returning
to the past and shaping imagination and experience into poetry.
Alongside a range of writing activities, we will also look at selected
poems by Andrew Forster, focusing on the form and language he uses to
evoke what he describes as those ‘tiny moments’ which really
have ‘huge significance.’
It's all happening on Tuesday 15th May 2012,
at our usual time, 7.30, and place, Sulgrave S008.
Hilary
Lewis, who is giving the workshop, is a poetry and creative writing
tutor with the WEA, and also lectures part-time in the English Department
at De Montfort University.
Her passion for poetry began early and she studied English at the University
of Nottingham and then went on to become an English teacher. Her love
of teaching poetry means she enjoys both encouraging students to develop
their analytical skills and supporting and encouraging writers.
