The
Reading Circle
We welcome people who love reading and want to share their love, whether
they are full of opinions or want to develop some.
Most
of what we read is contemporary, almost always novels, but we occasionally
include poetry or biography, and each year we cover one classic.
If
you live in the region, join us, any time. But try to make our October
meeting: that's when we draw up a list of books for the rest of the
season.
Some of
the books we have discussed in the past are:
When Will There Be Good News? by Kate Atkinson
The White Tiger by Aravind Adigo
The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett
Arthur and George by Julia Barnes
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
Falling Angels by Tracy Chevalier
Troubles by J G Farrell
Suite
Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Jude The Obscure by Thomas Hardy
Some of Chekov's short stories
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
